SENATOR GOLDEN STATEMENT ON GUILTY VERDICT IN THE TRIAL OF SENIOR CITIZEN MUGGER

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), the former Chairman of the New York State Senate Committee on Aging and sponsor of New York’s “Granny’s Law”,  has issued the following statement in response to the State Supreme Court decision finding Jack Rhodes guilty of robbery, burglary and assault of three senior citizens in 2007:     “Justice has been served in the name of New York’s senior citizens.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month- Senator Oppenheimer is Living Proof that Early Detection is Key to Breast Cancer Survival

Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) reminds New Yorkers that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and marks this occasion by urging all women to schedule their annual mammogram.

Medical professionals recommend that women receive a clinical breast exam beginning at age 20 and thereafter a minimum of once every three years until the age of 40. Women over 40 should undergo clinical breast exams every year.

Special Time For Senior Citizens

New York recently celebrated the state’s first ever Assisted Living Week.  I was fortunate to mark this special occasion by meeting with residents and caregivers at several adult care/assisted living facilities within the 51st district.  These unique facilities are filled with wonderful individuals extremely deserving of this distinctive honor.

Ranzenhofer Holds First Aging Advisory Committee Meeting

Clarence, NY – Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer hosted his first Aging Advisory Committee Meeting last Wednesday at the Clarence Senior Center.  The Committee, comprising of members from various sectors of the aging and elderly care industries in Erie and Genesee County, will meet two to three times per year to discuss State issues important to preserving the financial and economic stability of the aging population.

SENATOR GOLDEN PARTNERS WITH THE VISITING NURSE SERVICE TO OFFER FREE FLU SHOTS

 Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, 22nd District) in conjunction with the Visiting Nurse Service, will offer 400 free flu shots to the community on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 pm at the Bay Ridge Manor, located at 476-76th Street.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "I am proud to once again partner with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York to make available the flu vaccination to this community at no cost. It is so important that everyone who should get a flu shot does in fact get the vaccination.”
