Public Hearing: Farm Worker Fair Labor Practices Act (S.2247-B)

ALBANY (February 26, 2010)—The New York State Senate Agriculture Committee will hold a public hearing Monday, March 1, on proposed legislation known as the Farm Worker Fair Labor Practices Act (S.2247-B). Public Hearing set for Farm Labor Death Bill

Albany, NY – The State Senate Agriculture Committee has set a public hearing on the Farm Labor Death Bill for Monday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Hearing Room A of the Legislative Office Building.

“The public hearing is an open, transparent way to conduct the people’s business. While I strongly oppose the proposed legislation, I am looking forward to listening to both sides of the issue,” said Senator Ranzenhofer.

Senate Passes Valesky Bill that Supports Local Wineries, Allows Sale and Consumption at Food Festivals

SYRACUSE, N.Y.--Supporting local and farm wineries, the New York State Senate has passed legislation (S5440B) sponsored by Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) expanding the ability of  wineries to sell wine for consumption at food festivals, significantly increasing the market for in-state producers.

Aubertine bill makes clean energy investments profitable for farms/businesses, creates jobs

ALBANY (February 22, 2010)—The New York State Senate today passed legislation sponsored by Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine (S.6700) to amend the state’s net metering law to clear hurdles and allow farms, small businesses, municipalities and other non-residential customers to reduce their energy costs by generating clean electricity and selling it back to the grid.
