FREE Movies Under the Stars Featuring "Where the Wild Things Are"

Join Senator Peralta to watch "Where the Wild Things Are" under the stars on a giant inflatable screen!  

Doors open at 7:30 PM.  Showtime is 8:30 PM.

Please bring a blanket.  We'll have plenty of chairs available if you prefer that.

No food, glass bottles or alcohol allowed in the school yard.

Senator DeFrancisco Joins in Announcing ArtsWeek.

Senator DeFrancisco joined in announcing the Orange Line Gallery ArtsWeek, a two-weekend program of visual and performing arts events: July 29-August 1st, and August 7, 2010. ArtsWeek is the region's largest celebration of the arts, and includes many interactive family-orientated arts activities and festivals conveniently located Downtown Syracuse.

Senator DeFrancisco secured  the funding for two of the headlining festivals taking place during ArtsWeek.

Padavan, Poppenhusen Institute Sponsor Family Fun Day in College Point

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) in partnership with the Poppenhusen Institute sponsored the first annual Family Fun Day at MacNeil Park in College Point on Sunday afternoon July 11, 2010. The event featured fun games and educational programs by the Alley Pond Environmental Center, the Long Island Children Museum, the Fire Department of New York and the NYC Coalition of Transportation. Children and their families enjoyed a ventriloquist performance, inflatable bouncy bounces, sand and bubble art, face painting and various other arts and crafts.

The free family-friendly event will feature educational programs, games and activities, arts and crafts and family safety training programs.

Senator Suzi Oppenheimer Announces National Foundation for Women Legislators' Essay Contest

Seven female high school junior and senior students will win an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) annual conference and receive a $3,000 college scholarship. Applicants must write an essay addressing this year’s topic, “Freedom and Civic Virtues,” which calls upon students to describe how moral principles and the United States Bill of Rights shape the role of young adults in civic engagement.

Padavan and Poppenhusen Institute Team Up For Family Fun Day At MacNeil Park

 New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) announced today that he is teaming up with the Poppenhusen Institute in sponsoring the first annual Family Fun Day at MacNeil Park in College Point. The event will take place on Sunday July 11 from 2 pm to 6 pm.

 A free concert sponsored by Senator Padavan, featuring the Columbian folklore band Groupo Latino will follow the family fun day festivities at 6 pm.
