Senator Martins Congratulates Cow Bay Theatre Company on First Production

Port Washington’s new theatre group, the Cow Bay Theatre Company, held its first presentation on January 24 with a production of “Love Letters,” a play written by Pulitzer Prize-winner A.R. Gurney.

Senator Jack M. Martins attended the production at The Jeanne Rimsky Theater at the Landmark on Main Street to thank the Cow Bay Theatre Company for their commitment to the art and to wish them much success in the future.

Senator Martins presentation Senate Proclamations to actor Burt Young, the Peter and Jeri Dejana Family Foundation and Angela Susan Anton, publisher of Anton Community Newspapers for their contributions to the arts in the community and for being the recipients of the Cow Bay Theatre Company’s first annual awards.

Governor Cuomo Outlines 2013-2014 Executive Budget to Maintain Fiscal Responsibility and Continue to Invest in Economic Growth

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo unveiled the proposed 2013-14Executive Budget and Management Plan that builds on two years of balanced, fiscally responsible budgeting and invests in economic development, education reform, rebuilding after Superstorm Sandy, provides support to local governments and school districts, and includes no new taxes or fees.

Highlights of the Executive Budget:

· Eliminates $1.3 billion budget gap with no new taxes or fees. The expected gap for 2013-14 was projected to be $17.4 billion prior to the last two responsible budgets.

· Holds spending increases below 2 percent for third consecutive year.

Job Creation Projects In 51st Senate District Net $21 Million

ONEONTA, 12/19/12 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that 50 job creation projects in the 51st senate district will receive critically important state funds through the second round of Regional Economic Development Council awards.

Mrs. Ingalsbe is one of  more than a dozen from Central and Northern New York participating in “Senator Patty Ritchie Celebrates Local Artists,” an initiative to highlight local creative talent which launched last March.

Senator Serrano Participates in the Annual Reading of George Handel’s Messiah

Senator Serrano participated in the annual reading of Handel’s Messiah at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in the Bronx. This event, which draws large crowds from all around New York City, has become a holiday tradition in the Bronx. Music was performed by the Bronx Opera Chorus and conducted by Michael Spierman.“It brings me great joy to have been selected as an orator, once again, for the reading of Handel’s Messiah,” said Senator Serrano. “The perception of the Bronx as not being rich in the arts and culture is quickly changing. The Bronx Opera has been on the forefront in showcasing all the wonderful talent this borough has to offer. I look forward to participating in future readings of Handel’s Messiah.”
