The New York State Senate Majority today unveiled an innovative jobs and economic development program to get New Yorkers back to work. Through three targeted initiatives New Jobs New York will:

·         Create jobs immediately to provide a much-needed economic boost out of this recession;

·         Boost the confidence of small business owners to grow;

·         Implement a tax incentivization program that works for businesses already in New York, and attracts new investments and jobs for the future.

MAZIARZ URGES ACTION ON JOB CREATION AND RETENTION PROGRAMS

Senate Passes Net Metering Bill to Reduce Energy Costs

Aubertine bill makes clean energy investments profitable for farms/businesses, creates jobs

ALBANY (February 22, 2010)—The New York State Senate today passed legislation sponsored by Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine (S.6700) to amend the state’s net metering law to clear hurdles and allow farms, small businesses, municipalities and other non-residential customers to reduce their energy costs by generating clean electricity and selling it back to the grid.

Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins Holds Workshop on Home Energy Savings

On Thursday, February 18th Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins sponsored a workshop that was hosted by the Downstate North Energy $mart Communities on ways homeowners are able to save money on heating and electric bills. The two-hour workshop, conducted in the Greenburgh Town Hall, was designed to provide homeowners of every income level with specific information on the financial incentives available for improving the energy efficiency of a home.
