Senator Valesky announces $159,000 in funding for alternative energy projects

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida), announced two legislative initiatives that will fund alternative energy projects in Central New York.

“These projects represent a wise investment in the future of Upstate New York,” Senator Valesky, Vice President Pro-Tempore said. “Developing technology and delivery of alternative energy sources will provide environmental and economic benefits to all of New York State.”

Protect Your Identity Days

         Niagara County Refuse Disposal District in association with Senator George Maziarz ran a “Protect Your Identity Day” on August 15th, 2009. Businesses were allowed to securely destroy sensitive documents, electronics and x-rays at a onetime no cost opportunity.

Sen. Schneiderman At Graffiti Removal Announcement

Sen. Schneiderman was joined by elected officials, small business owners and community leaders in launching a neighborhood-wide graffiti cleaning program throughout the 31st Senatorial District. The money for this project was secured by Senator Schneiderman in the 2009-2010 state budget.

Senator Valesky-sponsored Legislation to Create Wood Products Development Council Passes Both Houses of Legislature

Legislation to establish a wood products development council in New York State (S.4330-A/A.7742-A) within the State Department of Agriculture and Markets has passed both Houses of the New York State Legislature.  This bill was sponsored by Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) and Assemblywoman RoAnn M. Destito (D/WF-Rome).

GREENWAY EXPANSION READY TO BE MADE PERMANENT

The Hudson River Valley Greenway has proven to be a positive influence in the region.  It has encouraged better local planning and provided funds for beautification around the region.

When the Greenway was created, it excluded communities in the Catskill State Park.  In 2006, I wrote the legislation - which became law to allow those communities in Ulster County to participate, regardless of whether or not they are in the Catskill Park.

Legislative Gazette: Real housewife lobbies for greener food packaging

A reality television celebrity accompanied three teenage girls to Albany last Tuesday to meet with legislators and advocate for a bill that would prohibit the use of plastic foam in food service.

Jill Zarin of the Bravo network's "The Real Housewives of New York City," along with her daughter Allyson Shapiro and two other New York high school girls, is advocating for a bill (S.747-a/A.706-a) that would enact the Food Service Waste Reduction Act.

Letter to the Editor (Long Island Advance): Environment Protect
