The Senate Task Force on Government Efficiency is committed to exposing inefficient government spending and identifying solutions to more effectively manage the use of State resources and taxpayer money.

In order to better target our investigations, we encourage New York State residents to use the form below to submit their ideas, suggestions and feedback on how the State can conserve resources in this tough fiscal time, as well as to report any suspected wasteful government spending or abuse of tax dollars. New York Times: Senate Passes Bill to Ease Government Consolidation

The Senate approved legislation Wednesday that would make it easier to cut or consolidate layers of local government in New York, a measure that supporters hailed as a significant step toward relieving tax burdens across the state.

STATE OFFICIALS AGREE TO CHANGE NAME OF LEATHERSTOCKING REGION

(Utica) - Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R/IP/C - Rome) and Assemblywoman RoAnn M. Destito (D-Rome) announced that New York State, for tourism purposes, will be officially retiring the designation “Central Leatherstocking Region” and renaming the seven county area as “Central New York”.

The formerly known “Central Leatherstocking Region” encompasses the seven upstate counties of Broome, Chenango, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Otsego and Schoharie.

Sen. Foley is Joined by Community Leaders in an Effort to Increase Participation in 2010 Census

Civic leaders and activists from local communities in Suffolk County joined Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) as he called for increased participation in the U.S Census. The 2010 Census awareness event, which took place at the Brentwood Public Library, was centered around relaying the importance of Census participation and giving community members the tools necessary to educate their friends, family, and neighbors about the Census.

Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins is urging every New Yorker to "stand up and be counted!"

"The Census Day on April 1st is right around the corner," said Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins. "The information collected by the Census is used to determine state and federal funding that communities will receive to improve schools, hospitals, emergency services, senior centers and other areas that are vital our neighborhoods.
