Public Meeting Tuesday in Albany Regarding Expansion of Legislative Television Channel

The New York State Legislature Joint Advisory Board on Broadcast of State Government Proceedings is conducting a public meeting to discuss the expansion of the current dedicated legislative television channel. The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on November 17, in Room 124 of the New York State Capitol.

The Joint Advisory Board is co-chaired by Senator José M. Serrano and Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari.

Cut Government Mandates - Save Local Tax Dollars

As local governments seek creative ways to save money they often look to the state for assistance.  One of the most important avenues I have long pursued is mandate relief.  During the recent special legislative session in Albany we were able to take a step in the right direction by passing a bill aimed at encouraging efficiencies that would ultimately benefit local property taxpayers.

Winner Welcomes Call for State Spending Cap

Albany, N.Y., November 6–State Senator George Winner (R-C-I, Elmira) welcomed today Governor David Paterson’s call for the state Legislature to approve a cap on state spending when it returns to session next week.

That’s because Winner himself has previously called for and co-sponsored legislation to implement a constitutionally mandated cap on state spending along with additional, comprehensive state spending reforms.

Statement by New York State Senator Duane RE: Hiram Monserrate

Launching a Chinese-Language Hotline

Last week I also launched the first-ever 25th Senate District Chinese-language hotline, a service that allows Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking constituents to contact my office directly with their concerns.Constituents can access the hotline by calling 917-254-3138 from 10 AM to 6 PM, Monday-Friday.
