Senator Kennedy Urges Support for Stronger Workplace Protections for Interns

Federal Court Judge threw out an unpaid intern’s sexual harassment suit, after ruling unpaid interns are not covered by same workplace protections provided to paid employees. 

Senator Kennedy wants NY’s human rights laws reformed immediately to ensure all workers, including unpaid interns, are protected from sexual harassment, retaliation and discrimination.

Forum/Town Hall: Higher Education Open House

State Senator Gustavo Rivera invites high school students to attend a Higher Education Open House at Bronx Community College from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

New Public-Private Partnership to Prepare More Than 6,000 Students for High-Skill Jobs

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo this week announced 16 winners of a statewide competition to form public-private partnerships that will prepare more than 6,000 New York high school students for high-skill jobs in technology, manufacturing and healthcare. Students will earn an associate degree at no cost to their families and will be first in line for jobs with participating companies when they graduate.
