Senate Passes Legislation to Ensure Children with Autism Receive the Medical Care They Deserve

Syracuse, NY - Landmark legislation (S7000B), co-sponsored by Senator David J. Valesky (D- Oneida), which will end the discriminatory practices by insurance companies against children with autism disorders passed the New York State Senate today.

“Often, families affected by autism are forced to pay for medical treatment on their own without the support of insurance agencies,” said Senator Valesky. “This legislation gives families the ability to rely on their insurance to help alleviate some of that financial impact.”

Senate Passes Klein Bill to Increase Penalties for Criminals who Forge Auto Insurance Cards

 

State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeffrey D. Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced on Thursday that the NYS Senate passed his legislation to impose tougher penalties on those who commit auto insurance fraud, helping to keep down insurance premium costs for those who properly insure their vehicles.

Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) today announced that legislation (S.5111) he cosponsored to help men and women who volunteer in their local fire or ambulance companies  qualify for more affordable health insurance has been signed into law by Governor Paterson.  Chapter 71 of the Laws of 2010 allows any public corporation to extend health services and insurance to volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.
