Senator Shirley L. Huntley Announces Passage of Inner City Youth Employment Program

Senator Shirley L. Huntley (D-Jamaica) announced the passage of a new Inner City Youth Employment Program and Tax credit initiative for the State of New York. The new bill (S. 50002) establishes an $87 million program in grants, training funds, and tax credits to deal with the crisis of inner city youth unemployment.

Carlucci Passes Tax Reduction Plan

Senator David Carlucci on Wednesday voted to bring a more fair and progressive tax system to New York that will cut taxes for middle class taxpayers and bring relief to small businesses and non-profit organizations affected by the MTA payroll tax.

GOVERNOR CUOMO ANNOUNCES $785 MILLION IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUNDING THROUGH REGIONAL COUNCILS

Mid-Hudson Region (which includes Dutchess County) will receive $67 million and the Capital Region (which includes Columbia County) will receive $62.7 million in competitive grant monies earmarked for economic development and job creation.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that $785 million has been awarded through the Regional Economic Development Council initiative, continuing the Governor's efforts to redesign the way state government works in order to drive economic growth and create jobs.

State Senate Approves Plan For Middle Class Tax Break, Millionaire Tax Hike

NY1 wrote about the recent Albany passing of the change in the state's tax code, which will essentially up the taxes for the wealthy in New York and give breaks to millions of other residents. Senator Gianaris supports this change, hoping that during these difficult economic times, this tax break will benefit middle class families in New York.

Albany lawmakers on Wednesday passed a major overhaul of the state's tax code that will mean higher taxes for the wealthiest New Yorkers and a tax break for millions of residents, pending the approval of the State Assembly.

Bill Cuts Taxes for 4.4 Million New Yorkers; Repeals MTA Payroll Tax for Most Businesses; Reduces Taxes on Manufacturers; Invests in Job Creation & Retention

(12/07/11) - The New York State Senate today passed the Middle Class Tax Cut and Job Creation Plan that will reduce taxes for millions of hardworking, middle-class taxpayers to their lowest levels in more than half a century. In addition, the comprehensive plan will help strengthen our economy and create new jobs by eliminating the job-killing MTA payroll tax for more than 78 percent of the small employers that pay the tax. The plan will provide a total of more than $3.3 billion in tax relief to individuals and businesses.

Senator Grisanti launched online 'Job Resource Center'

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (60th District) launched a free "job resource center" online that will provide assistance to constituents in his district who are currently looking for a job."Creating new jobs and retaining existing jobs is really what it is all about here in Western New York," said Senator Grisanti. "Since taking office in January, I have made bringing jobs back to Western New York one of my top priorities."  Currently unemployment is at  9.1% in the United States, 8% in New York State-wide and in 7.3% in the Buffalo/Niagara Region.
