Griffo Urges State AG to Probe Land Sale

(Albany) - Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R-IP-C, Rome) today announced that he has written to State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in support of an investigation into a recent Adirondack land purchase.

Griffo noted that in 2004, The Nature Conservancy bought a 20,000-acre tract of land for $6.3 million and sold the land to the state four years later for $9.8 million.

Espada: Time to Stop Holding Judicial Pay Raise Political Hostage

ALBANY–State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada, Jr. today said that wage increases for state judges should not be held political hostage to whether lawmakers receive a pay raise.

Sen. Espada said he agreed with today’s 5-1 Court of Appeals ruling that chastises the Governor and state legislature for violating the Constitution by linking judicial salary to other non-related issues.

Senator Farley Supports Moving the Terror Trials Out of New York

The New York State Senate overwhelmingly approved a resolution today (February 9th) calling on President Obama and the U.S. Attorney General to move the trials of terrorists involved in the 9/11 attacks.State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) was one of several Senators on both sides of the aisle to speak in support of this resolution.The federal government has been planning to hold these trials in New York City.
