Senator Klein and Majority Members Pass Real Property and School Tax Relief Bill

ALBANY – State Senate Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein and Senate Majority Democrats passed Property Tax Relief legislation aimed at reversing New York’s skyrocketing property taxes. The legislation, passed Thursday in a 58-1 vote, would put more money back in the pockets of middle income families and seniors.

SENATE PASSES KLEIN BILL TO GENERATE VITAL REVENUE

Senator Klein’s Video Lottery Terminal Legislation Expected to Generate $100 Million Annually

ALBANY – State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced on Wednesday that the Senate passed legislation to expand hours and types of games for video lottery terminals (VLTs). Klein’s bill (S.706-D) is expected to generate an additional $100 million annually for state aid to education. There are currently more than 13,000 video lottery gaming machines at horse racing tracks across the state.

Klein Bill Expands Residential Permit Area for Village Residents

Due to Tuckahoe’s two commuter rail stations, Village residents often face significant difficulty finding parking on residential streets.

NYS Senator Foley comments on new Govt. Efficiency Task Force 3/2/10

March 2, 2010: NYS Senator Brian Foley comments on the creation of the bi-partisan Government Efficiency Task Force. Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins Votes To Help New Yorkers Avoid Foreclosure

Currently, local governments are able to negotiate with citizens who due to worsening economic conditions have been unable to pay their taxes on time to pay them over time on an installment plan. This bill, sponsored by Senator Thomas P. Morahan (R-Nanuet) would permit local governments, at their option, to increase the installment payment plan for the currently 24 months to an period of 36 months until December 31, 2011 in order to help New Yorkers avoid foreclosure.
