First Rules Reform Hearing in Syracuse

The Rules Reform Committee held its first public hearing in Syracuse, opening up a conversation with New Yorkers about reform at the Senate. The hearing was the first in a series to be held across the state. Findings from the hearing will be used as the Rules Reform Committee compiles its recommendations about how the Senate should move forward on this key issue.

Rules Reform Committee Represents A New Beginning

Last week, in a room deep within the Capitol building in Albany, an amazing thing happened. Five Democrats and three Republicans sat at a table and openly discussed a subject close to my heart—reform—during a committee meeting, laying plans for groundbreaking changes in how the State Senate will operate. And, for the first time ever, it was recorded and broadcast on the web.
