Subway Service Resumed at 181st Street Station

I am happy to report that the 181st Street Station on the 1 line has reopened. As of 5:00 am today, subway service, which was disrupted over the last several weeks as a result of the ceiling collapse at the 181st Street Station, has been completely restored. I understand your frustration with the inconvenience caused by the closure of this station, but I am confident this situation was resolved as quickly and safely as possible.

Governor Paterson Signs Two Senator Dilan-Sponsored Bills into Law

S 3619-A bans the use of portable electronics while driving, S 3623-A requires passengers under age eight to ride in restraint systems(Albany-NY)— Senator Martin Malavé Dilan (D-Brooklyn), Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, today praised the signing of two bills into law that will improve safety measures protecting New York’s young drivers and passengers.

Serrano Climbs Aboard to Save the M15

On Friday morning Senator Serrano was proactive in his opposition to the proposed service cuts for one of the most heavily used bus lines in the country. During the 7 am rush hour, Serrano, his staff, and the Transport Workers Union boarded buses on Second Avenue, and handed out literature encouraging citizens to speak out against the planned cuts on the M15 bus.  The MTA is proposing to remove 9 buses from the M15 route, which operates between Second Avenue and South Ferry.

NYSDOT BREAKS GROUND ON BORDER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

 

Stimulus-Funded Initiative Will Enhance Traffic Mobility, Increase Security 

New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Acting Commissioner Stanley Gee was in the Thousand Islands today to mark the beginning of a $1.3 million highway project to improve traffic mobility and security at the Customs and Border Protection Station on Interstate 81 on Wellesley Island, Jefferson County.  The project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

MTA Update On 181st Street Station And Service Disruptions

As a result of the ceiling collapse at the 181st Street Station in Washington Heights, subway service is still disrupted for commuters in Northern Manhattan and the Bronx. I share your frustration with this major inconvenience, but rest assured that my office has been in regular contact with the MTA to make sure this situation is resolved as quickly and safely as possible.As part of our discussions, the MTA has agreed to provide daily updates on the status of the repairs as well as service advisories.
