BILL NUMBER: S5670 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the expiration of the authorization to the county of Seneca to impose an additional one percent sales and compensating use tax PURPOSE : This legislation authorizes the imposition of an additional one percent sales tax in Seneca County until November 30, 2011. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section one of this measure amends section 1210 of the Tax Law, authorizing the imposition of an additional one percent sales tax in Seneca County until November 30, 2011. JUSTIFICATION : Under present law, the additional sales tax rate in Seneca County is set to expire on November 30, 2009. This legislation is necessary to allow Seneca County to continue its collection of this additional sales tax. NOZZOLIO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the expiration of the authorization to the county of Seneca to impose an additional one percent sales and compensating use tax THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Clause 28 of subparagraph (i) of the opening paragraph of section 1210 of the tax law, as amended by chapter 547 of the laws of 2007, is amended to read as follows: (28) the county of Seneca is hereby further authorized and empowered to adopt and amend local laws, ordinances or resolutions imposing such taxes at a rate that is one percent additional to the three percent rate authorized above in this paragraph for such county for the period begin- ning December first, two thousand two and ending November thirtieth, two thousand [nine] ELEVEN; S 2.
