S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 5446 2011-2012 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y February 18, 2011 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. MAISEL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring charter schools employee salaries to be less than the salary of the chancellor of the department of education THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 2858 to read as follows: S 2858. CHARTER SCHOOL PERSONNEL; SALARIES. NO CHARTER SCHOOL PERSON- NEL, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, TEACHERS, SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, AND OTHER SCHOOL EMPLOYEES, SHALL EARN A SALARY OR OTHER REMUNERATION WHICH IS GREATER THAN THE SALARY OR REMUNERATION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE DISTRICT IN WHICH SUCH CHARTER SCHOOL IS LOCATED OR, FOR CHARTER SCHOOLS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF NEW YORK, THE CHANCELLOR OF THE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK. THE SALARY OR OTHER REMUNERATION OF SUCH CHARTER SCHOOL PERSONNEL SHALL BE THE ENTIRE SALARY OR REMUNERATION FROM ALL CHARTER SCHOOLS BY WHICH SUCH PERSON IS EMPLOYED. S 2.
