BILL NUMBER:S5573 TITLE OF BILL: An act authorizing Daniel Cox to apply to re-enter the pension system of the city of New York PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill would re-open the 90 day window for filing application for retirement to Daniel Cox. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1: Re-opens the 90 day window for filing application for retirement to Daniel Cox. Section 2: Attribution of the cost of such benefit being borne by the City of New York. Section 3: Effective Date. JUSTIFICATION: Daniel Cox is a former member of the New York City Employees Retirement System who was employed by the NYC Parks and Recreation department during the period of time, from 1982 until 1987. He then preceded employment with the NYC district Attorneys office until his retirement in 1997. He was offered to re-enter service

GOLDEN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT authorizing Daniel Cox to apply to re-enter the pension system of the city of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, Daniel Cox, a former member of the New York city employees' retirement system, who was employed by the parks and recreation department of the city of New York from 1982 until 1987, at which time he continued work- ing for the city of New York in the district attorney's office until his retirement in 1997, and who, for reasons not ascribable to his own negligence, failed to timely apply to re-enter the New York city pension system upon his return to service in November 2007 with the city of New York Business Integrity Commission, shall be deemed to have timely filed his application to re-enter the city of New York pension system, if on or before December 31, 2013 he shall file an application therefor with the New York city employees' retirement system. S 2. All costs attributable to this act shall be borne by the city of New York. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
