BILL NUMBER:S6802 TITLE OF BILL: An act relating to the eligibility of Ronald Stroh to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer in the town of New Paltz, in the county of Ulster and to be placed on the eligibility list for appointment as a full-time police officer PURPOSE: To allow Ronald Stroh to take the civil service exam to become a full-time police officer in the Town of New Paltz. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Provides that notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the Civil Service Law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Ronald Stroh shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent on passing, be eligible to be listed for appointment as a full-time police officer for the Town of New Paltz. Section 2: Provides that Ronald Stroh shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police officers. Section 3: Effective date.

BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT relating to the eligibility of Ronald Stroh to take the compet- itive civil service examination for the position of police officer in the town of New Paltz, in the county of Ulster and to be placed on the eligibility list for appointment as a full-time police officer THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Ronald Stroh, who has been continuously employed by the town of New Paltz, in the county of Ulster, as a part-time police officer, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent upon his scores on such examina- tion, be eligible to be placed on the eligibility list for appointment as a full-time police officer for the town of New Paltz. S 2. Ronald Stroh shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi- cers. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
