BILL NUMBER:S6842 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to expanding that portion of the state highway system designated as the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway" PURPOSE: This bill expands the portion of the state highway system designated as the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway" to include all the portion of state route 20A located in Wyoming County. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends Section 342-xxx of the highway law to provide that all the portion of state route 20A located in Wyoming County be designated as the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway". Section 2 provides that the commissioner of transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. Section 3 states that this act shall take effect immediately. JUSTIFICATION: This bill expands the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway" to include all the portion of state route 20A located in Wyoming County. Wyoming County has a rich history of its

GALLIVAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to expanding that portion of the state highway system designated as the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 342-xxx of the highway law, as added by chapter 95 of the laws of 2012, is amended to read as follows: S 342-xxx. Portion of THE state highway system to be designated as the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway". [That] ALL THAT portion of THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM KNOWN AS state route 20A [located within the boundaries of the county of Wyoming from the intersection of state route 98 to the intersection of state route 246, a distance of approximately sixteen and one-tenth miles] BEGINNING AT THE WESTERN COUNTY LINE OF THE COUNTY OF WYOMING AND ENDING AT THE EASTERN COUNTY LINE OF THE COUNTY OF WYOMING, shall be designated and known as the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act; provided that, to avoid any confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the designation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
