S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 2359 2013-2014 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 14, 2013 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. SCARBOROUGH, MONTESANO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to authorize certain health care professionals licensed to prac- tice in other jurisdictions to practice in this state in connection with an event sanctioned by Remote Area Medical; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, any person who is licensed to practice as a physician, physician's assist- ant, massage therapist, physical therapist, chiropractor, dentist, opto- metrist, nurse, nurse practitioner or podiatrist in another state or territory, who is in good standing in such state or territory and who has been appointed by Remote Area Medical to provide professional services at an event in this state sanctioned by Remote Area Medical, may provide such professional services at a Remote Area Medical Clinic in New York City without first being licensed pursuant to the provisions of title 8 of the education law. Such services shall be provided only during the time period of December 1 through December 31, 2014. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed repealed December 31, 2014. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
