TENNEY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Employees AN ACT to authorize certain part-time police officers employed by the village of Montgomery, in the county of Orange, to take the compet- itive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer for such village THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Brian Briere, James Coscette, Joseph Feola and Curt McDermott, who have been contin- uously employed by the village of Montgomery, in the county of Orange, as part-time police officers, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent upon their scores on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as full-time police officers for the village of Montgomery. S 2. Brian Briere, James Coscette, Joseph Feola and Curt McDermott shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police officers. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07814-01-3
