TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the judiciary law, in relation to judges
in the eighth judicial district

PURPOSE: The purpose of this legislation is to limit, in the eighth

ing counties: Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Orleans, Genesee, Allegany,
Niagara, Wyoming, and Erie, and has twenty-six judges. This legislation
would restrict to twenty-two, the number of judges that could come from
any one county. This restriction would allow counties with a smaller
population the ability to elect judges to the judicial district.
