BILL NUMBER:S6450

TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation
to establishing a distinctive plate honoring the Boy Scouts of America

PURPOSE: To authorize a distinctive license plate in honor of the Boys
Scouts of America.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1 of the bill amends the vehicle and traffic law to authorize a
distinctive license plate in support of the Boy Scouts of America.

Section 2 of the bill is the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION: The Boy Scouts of America was established over 100 years
ago and the organization is still very popular here in New York with
thousands of members. Scouting helps with character development, citi-
zenship training, and personal fitness with our young people. This
legislation establishes a distinctive license plate in support of the
Boy Scouts of America that would allow vehicle owners to show their
support for the organization.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: To be determined.

EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.
