BILL NUMBER:S2465 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the legislative law, in relation to requiring that member floor votes be made available online PURPOSE: Requires that floor votes be listed on each member's page on the official websites of the Senate or Assembly. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 requires all votes taken on the floor of the Senate or Assembly to be listed on each member's page on the official website of the irrespective houses within twenty-four hours of the vote. Requires the listing to include the bill number, date of vote, summary of legislation, and the member's vote listed as yes or no. Section 2 contains the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: This legislation will promote accessibility and transparency by allowing the public to view their representatives voting records on member pages of the Senate or Assembly websites. LANZA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the legislative law, in relation to requiring that member floor votes be made available online THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The legislative law is amended by adding a new section 54-c to read as follows: S 54-C. VOTES TO BE POSTED ONLINE. ALL VOTES TAKEN ON THE FLOOR OF THE SENATE OR ASSEMBLY SHALL BE LISTED ON EACH MEMBER'S PAGE ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THEIR RESPECTIVE HOUSES WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS OF THE VOTE. SUCH LISTING SHALL INCLUDE THE BILL NUMBER, DATE OF VOTE, THE SUMMARY OF THE LEGISLATION FROM THE LEGISLATIVE RETRIEVAL SYSTEM AND THE MEMBER'S VOTE LISTED AS YES OR NO. SUCH LISTING SHALL BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AS "MEMBER'S VOTING RECORD" ON THE MEMBER'S PAGE OF THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THEIR RESPECTIVE HOUSE. S 2.
