BILL NUMBER:S4729 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to authorizing hunting in the county of Seneca; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon the expiration thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill would allow the hunting of big game through the use of a rifle in all of Seneca County. EXISTING LAW: Environmental Conservation Law Section 11-0907 currently allows the taking of deer by rifle in counties such as Albany, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Herkimer, Livingston, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Ontario, Oswego, Otsego, Schoharie, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Wayne, Wyoming, Yates, and in a portion of Broome and Chautauqua. JUSTIFICATION: The Seneca County Board of Supervisors, by Resolution No. 28-15, has requested to be added to the list of counties where sportsmen and women are able to hunt big game with rifles. NOZZOLIO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to authorizing hunting in the county of Seneca; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon the expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Item (i) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law, as amended by section 14 of part EE of chapter 55 of the laws of 2014, is amended to read as follows: (i) The counties of Deer, the first Monday Pistol, shotgun, Allegany, Cattaraugus, after November 15 crossbow, Cayuga, Chautauqua through first Tuesday muzzle loading except that portion after December 7 firearm, rifle or of the county north long bow only of route 20, Chemung, Chenango, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Oswego, Otsego, Schoharie, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Wyoming, SENECA and Yates and that portion of the county of Broome east of the Susquehanna river S 2.
