 AN ACT to amend the transportation law, in relation to  state assistance
   for the operation and maintenance of certain highway lighting systems
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The transportation law is amended by adding a new section
 18-c to read as follows:
   § 18-C. STATE ASSISTANCE FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF  CERTAIN
 HIGHWAY  LIGHTING SYSTEMS. 1. ANY COUNTY, CITY, TOWN, OR VILLAGE EXPEND-
 ING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OR MAINTENANCE OF THE LIGHTING SYSTEMS ALONG
 ROUTE TWENTY-SEVEN KNOWN AS SUNRISE HIGHWAY LOCATED IN THE  COUNTIES  OF
 NASSAU  AND  SUFFOLK  SHALL BE FULLY REIMBURSED FOR SUCH EXPENDITURES BY
 THE STATE.
   2. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL  PROMULGATE  A  UNIFORM  PROCEDURE  FOR  THE
 IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION.
   § 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
