HONORING Roy Tschudy upon the occasion of being
named Veteran of the Year by the Rockland County
Veterans Coordination Council

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Roy Tschudy
upon the occasion of being named Veteran of the Year by the Rockland
County Veterans Coordination Council on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at
the Allison-Paris Building in New City, New York; and

WHEREAS, Roy Tschudy was born March 15, 1949, and is a member of the
Class of 1966 from Our Savior Lutheran High School in the Bronx, as well
as a former student at John Jay College; and

WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Roy Tschudy joined the United States Army,
Aviation Unit, in 1966, and served in the Vietnam War until 1969; and

WHEREAS, While bravely serving his country, Roy Tschudy earned many
high distinctions and honors including; a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam
Campaign Medal, and National Defense Service Medal; and

WHEREAS, Upon his return home, Roy Tschudy joined the NYPD in 1974
as a Police Officer and served in that capacity until 1997; while there,
he attended the New York City Police Academy, becoming a certified NYPD
field training officer in 1993, and two years later becoming certified
by New York State; and

WHEREAS, In this esteemed position, Roy Tschudy has received
numerous high honors including two Meritorious Medal awards, one
Distinguished Duty Medal Award, and New York City P.B.A Cop of the Month
Award; he is also a multiple time recipient of the New York City Public
Service Award for Valor; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Roy Tschudy has worked in conjunction with
Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 333, Rockland County, which
provides services for Veterans in the area; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited unparalleled patriotism both at home and
abroad, Roy Tschudy has demonstrated his love for this country and
merits forevermore, the highest respect of his State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roy Tschudy upon the occasion of being named Veteran of the Year
by the Rockland County Veterans Coordination Council; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Roy Tschudy.
