   BRIGHT,  GOTTFRIED,  HEVESI,  HYNDMAN,  JOYNER,  LUPARDO,   McDONOUGH,
   SEAWRIGHT,  SIMON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Educa-
   tion
 
 AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring  schools  to
   accept  credits  for  educational  programs  at office of children and
   family services facilities as transfer credits
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 112 of the education law is amended by adding a new
 subdivision 1-a to read as follows:
   1-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, CRED-
 ITS  AWARDED  BY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS PROVIDED BY FACILITIES OPERATED BY
 THE OFFICE OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES SHALL BE ACCEPTED AS TRANSFER
 CREDITS BY ANY SCHOOL WITHIN THE STATE OF NEW YORK.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
