DURSO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT requiring settlement monies from the Navy Grumman groundwater plume are used for the purchase of certain whole house water filtra- tion systems THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Settlement monies received by the state to resolve liabil- ity for natural resource damages related to the Navy Grumman groundwater plume, that originated from the Northrop Grumman Bethpage facility and the naval weapons industrial reserve plant sites, shall be used to purchase whole house water filtration systems capable of removing contamination associated with the Navy Grumman groundwater plume for any household located within the area where contaminants associated with the Navy Grumman groundwater plume exceed groundwater standards, criteria and guidance, as identified by the department of environmental conserva- tion. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD09029-01-1
