 AN ACT authorizing the county of Madison to reinstate John R. Murray  to
   a  full-time  competitive  position in the county of Madison sheriff's
   department; and authorizing the  commissioner  of  the  department  of
   civil  service  to  reinstate  John  R.  Murray  on the eligible civil
   service list for employment as a New York police officer
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Notwithstanding  section 58 of the civil service law, the
 Madison county department of personnel is hereby authorized and directed
 to permit the county of Madison to reinstate John R. Murray to  a  full-
 time  competitive  position with the county of Madison sheriff's depart-
 ment.
   § 2. The commissioner of the department of civil service  shall  rein-
 state  John  R.  Murray on the eligible civil service list, without lost
 rank or seniority, provided Mr. Murray files a request  to  that  effect
 with  the  state  comptroller by January 1, 2023. Any such reinstatement
 shall be effective immediately.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
