HONORING Ian Anderson for his contributions that
propelled the Atlanta Braves to the 2021 MLB World
Series Championship

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement and team goals; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ian Anderson
of Clifton Park for his contributions that propelled the Atlanta Braves
to the 2021 MLB World Series Championship; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Shenendehowa High School, where he helped
lead the school to the 2016 NYSPHSAA Class AA Championship, Ian Anderson
was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the first round with the third
overall pick of the 2016 MLB Draft; and

WHEREAS, On August 26, 2020, Ian Anderson was promoted to the big
leagues and made his major league debut at Truist Park in Atlanta
against the New York Yankees, logging 5 and 1?3 innings without yielding
a hit; and

WHEREAS, In his World Series debut, Ian Anderson pitched five no-hit
innings in a Braves' 2-0 victory, joining Jeff Tesreau as the only
rookie to throw five or more hitless innings in a World Series game,
while striking out four and walking three; and

WHEREAS, The five hitless frames also made Ian Anderson the first
pitcher since Don Larsen's perfect game in 1956 to complete an outing of
five innings or more with no hits allowed in a World Series game; and

WHEREAS, During the Braves' 2021 postseason run, Ian Anderson
started four games logging 17 innings, allowing just three earned runs
and striking out 16 batters, compiling a 4-0 record with a 1.26
earned-run average in eight postseason starts; and

WHEREAS, Due to the historic nature of Ian Anderson's World Series
performance, a game-used ball and the his cap from that start will be
sent as relics to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in
Cooperstown; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ian Anderson for his contributions that propelled the Atlanta
Braves to the 2021 MLB World Series Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ian Anderson.
