CONGRATULATING Chief Robert H. Wescott upon the
occasion of his retirement after more than 25 years
of distinguished service to the Ogdensburg Police
Department
WHEREAS, Law enforcement officers from the State of New York put
their lives on the line day in and day out for the citizens of this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
deserve the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Chief Robert H.
Wescott is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Chief
Robert H. Wescott upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 25
years of distinguished service to the Ogdensburg Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career in public service which
traversed more than 25 years, Robert H. Wescott focused on bringing
professionalism, courtesy and compassion to the police force, especially
in difficult situations; and
WHEREAS, Quickly climbing the ranks, Robert H. Wescott served as
patrolman, juvenile detective, DARE officer, detective, road sergeant,
detective sergeant, lieutenant and most recently, police chief, the
esteemed position from which he officially retired on Saturday, July 31,
2021; and
WHEREAS, As Chief of Police for the City of Ogdensburg, Robert H.
Wescott truly set an example of service for fellow officers and police
chiefs across this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, throughout his tenure, Robert H. Wescott
served his constituents fairly and honestly, always doing what was in
the best interest of those he represented; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Chief Robert H. Wescott upon the occasion of his retirement
after more than 25 years of distinguished public service, and to wish
him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chief Robert H. Wescott.
