CELEBRATING the life of Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr.,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr., an extraordinary
gentleman of indomitable faith and dedication whose purposeful life will
long serve as a standard to which others might aspire; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr. died on Thursday, April 8, 2020, at
the age of 69; he was the beloved son of the late George and Rose
Hastick; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr. was always drawn to be in service
to the community in which he lived; he studied at the Battlehill
Seminary in Grenada as a Catholic Priest for two years; and

WHEREAS, Still compelled to serve his community, Dr. Roy A. Hastick,
Sr. then served as an officer in the Tortola Police Force, which
culminated in his being appointed the Head Detail to the Chief of
Police; and

WHEREAS, After leaving the Tortola Police Force and migrating to the
United States, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr. worked for several years in
various roles of leadership in both the public and private sector, which
ultimately led to his being ask to found the Caribbean American Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Through Dr. Roy Hastick, Sr.'s 30 years of leadership as
CEO, CACCI became a beacon and steward to young Caribbean American
entrepreneurs and the wider business community; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr. served on numerous economic
development and community boards including Governors', Mayor's, Borough
President's Transition Teams, Brooklyn Navy Yard Development
Corporation, JP Morgan Chase CAB Board, New York City and Company, Inc.,
the Marketing and Tourism arm of the City of New York, and as a delegate
to the United Nations for Grenada; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man was affiliated with a myriad of
civic, charitable, and patriotic endeavors and memberships; his
benevolence and vision transformed not only the landscape but the lives
of the people in the City of New York; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr. is survived by his loving and
dedicated wife, Dr. Eda Hastick; and four sisters, Cynthia, Daphne,
Hermione, and Norma; as well as his son, daughters, son-in-law,
grandchildren, nephews, nieces, close/extended family members, many
friends and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr. leaves behind a legacy which will

long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life of Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr., and to express its
deepest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr.
