HONORING Desiree Potvin upon the occasion of being
named the 2021 Town Clerk of the Year for the State
of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those outstanding citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Desiree Potvin upon the occasion of being named the 2021 Town Clerk of
the Year for the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Desiree Potvin serves as the Town Clerk in Woodbury, New
York; she is dedicated to both her community and profession; and

WHEREAS, As a lifelong Town of Woodbury resident, Desiree Potvin is
extremely active in town activities and philanthropic endeavors
including the Woodbury Lions Club and the Woodbury Community Day
Organizational Committee; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, she is Treasurer of both the Town of Woodbury
Historical Society and the Town of Woodbury Chamber of Commerce as well
as Secretary of the Beautification Committee; and

WHEREAS, Notably, Desiree Potvin is both the Treasurer and Secretary
of the John Burke Memorial Committee which honors the late Town of
Woodbury Supervisor; and

WHEREAS, Desiree Potvin's distinguished service extends beyond
Woodbury as she is a sitting board member since 2013 of the Local
Government Records Advisory Council and President of the New York
Association of Local Government Records Officers as of 2016; and

WHEREAS, Desiree Potvin's illustrious career as Clerk began in 1997;
she is a New York State Civil Service Certified Clerk Typist, Senior
Clerk Typist, Account Clerk Typist, and Senior Account Clerk Typist; she
has work experience as the Deputy Town Clerk, Deputy Clerk to the
Supervisor, Deputy Tax Collector, Deputy Supervisor, and now operates as
the Town and Village of Woodbury Clerk and Treasurer; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman is also the Village of Woodbury
Fire Department Secretary and a member of both the Orange and Sullivan
Town Clerks Association as well as the New York State Town Clerks
Association; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Desiree Potvin has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our

attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Desiree Potvin upon the occasion of being named the 2021 Town
Clerk of the Year for the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Desiree Potvin.
