CONGRATULATING Cheryl Goldstone upon the occasion
of her retirement after more than 27 years of
dedicated service as School Counselor of
Williamsville South High School
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been
instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Cheryl Goldstone upon the occasion of her retirement after more than 27
years of dedicated service as School Counselor of Williamsville South
High School; and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent
upon individuals such as Cheryl Goldstone, who have dedicated their
lives to nurturing our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as a school counselor for approximately 250
students, Cheryl Goldstone fulfills many roles for her school community
and beyond, including team leader for the Counseling Department,
co-advisor for the National Honor Society, advisor for the
Superintendent's Inter-High Advisory, and co-chair of the school's
Wellness team, as well as the school's Advanced Placement Coordinator;
and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Goldstone also chairs the Scholarship committee and
oversees the annual Student Awards Ceremony; in addition to this, she
runs a Food Pantry, helping to support district families in need; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to her community, Cheryl Goldstone is a highly
respected, active leader in the essential school counseling and college
admissions communities; she is past president of the Western New York
Counselors Association and the WNY School Counselor Consortium,
newsletter editor for the New York Counseling Association, and
evaluations co-chair of the New York State Association of College
Admissions Counseling; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Cheryl
Goldstone has twice been named Counselor of the Year, received the New
York State Robert Patterson Award recognizing her work as a counselor,
and received a first place award as editor of a statewide counseling
newsletter, as well as the Service to Youth Award; and
WHEREAS, Currently serving as a co-chair for the National College
Fair in Buffalo, New York, Cheryl Goldstone oversees the Taste Of
Buffalo Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Cheryl Goldstone has given tirelessly of her time and
energies to countless organizations and initiatives, including the
Thanksgiving Food Drive at Williamsville South, Holiday Gift Card Drive
for Families at South, Advisory Board member of the University at
Buffalo, Board member and officer for Anorexia Bulimia Buffalo
Association, and Advisory Board member of the Niagara Orleans BOCES
Center; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Goldstone has made exceptional contributions to
empowering and improving the well-being of the students of Williamsville
South High School; she remains a source of inspiration and knowledge to
all she has befriended, educated and mentored; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Goldstone has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Williamsville South High School, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
her impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Cheryl Goldstone brought an
uncompromising standard of excellence to her work and a warm sense of
caring and concern to every young person she helped; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Cheryl Goldstone upon the occasion of her retirement after
more than 27 years of dedicated service as School Counselor of
Williamsville South High School, and to wish her continued success in
all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cheryl Goldstone.
