CONGRATULATING Amarah Streiff upon the occasion of
becoming a member of the 1,000-point club, one of
high school basketball's most exclusive groups

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Amarah Streiff upon the occasion of becoming a member of the 1,000-point
club, one of high school basketball's most exclusive groups; and

WHEREAS, A guard and forward on the Bishop Ludden Junior-Senior High
School in Syracuse, New York, Amarah Streiff, made her 1,000th point on
Saturday, February 13, 2021, during a game where she scored 28 to help
lead the Gaelic Knights to a 65-43 win over Bishop Grimes; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Amarah Streiff is due in
great part to the efforts of Coach Carm Petrera, a skilled and
inspirational tutor, respected for her ability to develop potential into
excellence; and

WHEREAS, Amarah Streiff's performance throughout the season has been
outstanding and she has been loyally and enthusiastically supported by
family, fans, friends and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
exemplary athlete now stands honorably, with just pride in her
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by her coaches, teachers, and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Amarah Streiff upon the occasion of becoming a member of
the 1,000-point club, one of high school basketball's most exclusive
groups; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Amarah Streiff and Coach Carm Petrera.
