BILL NUMBER: S6548 SPONSOR: GALLIVAN TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Staff Sergeant Peter J. Blidy Memorial Bridge" PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Designates the bridge on Versailles Plank Road, bridge number 6050680, crossing Clear Creek, in the town of Collins, county of Erie, as the "Staff Sergeant Peter J. Blidy Memorial Bridge." SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends the highway law by adding a new section 344-m, which designates the bridge on Versailles Plank Road, bridge number 6050680, which crosses the Clear Creek one and one-half miles northeast of Vers- ailles, in the town of Collins, county of Erie, shall be known as "Staff

GALLIVAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Staff Sergeant Peter J. Blidy Memori- al Bridge" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-m to read as follows: § 344-M. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "STAFF SERGEANT PETER J. BLIDY MEMORIAL BRIDGE". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING THE BRIDGE ON VERS- AILLES PLANK ROAD, DESIGNATED BRIDGE NUMBER 6050680, WHICH CROSSES CLEAR CREEK ONE AND ONE-HALF MILES NORTHEAST OF VERSAILLES, IN THE TOWN OF COLLINS, COUNTY OF ERIE, SHALL BE KNOWN AS THE "STAFF SERGEANT PETER J. BLIDY MEMORIAL BRIDGE". § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act. § 3.
