BILL NUMBER: S6896 SPONSOR: RIVERA TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 2 of the laws of 1998, amending the public health law and other laws relating to expanding the child health insur- ance plan, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To extend provisions of Child Health Plus related to presumptive eligi- bility, preventing fraud, and establishing premiums. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: This bill would extend the sunset provisions of chapter 2 of the laws of 1998 for an additional two years, to expire July 1, 2023. The provisions being extended establish premiums under Child Health Plus. The bill' would also extend presumptive eligibility protections for children in the program.

RIVERA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend chapter 2 of the laws of 1998, amending the public health law and other laws relating to expanding the child health insurance plan, in relation to the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivisions 3 and 5 of section 47 of chapter 2 of the laws of 1998, amending the public health law and other laws relating to expanding the child health insurance plan, as amended by chapter 69 of the laws of 2019, are amended to read as follows: 3. section six of this act shall take effect January 1, 1999; provided, however, that subparagraph (iii) of paragraph (c) of subdivi- sion 9 of section 2510 of the public health law, as added by this act, shall expire on July 1, [2021] 2023; 5. section twelve of this act shall take effect January 1, 1999; provided, however, paragraphs (g) and (h) of subdivision 2 of section 2511 of the public health law, as added by such section, shall expire on July 1, [2021] 2023; § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11289-01-1
