BILL NUMBER: S9020 SPONSOR: GAUGHRAN TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the county law, in relation to the territory of a county district PURPOSE: To allow a county the option of establishing a special district encom- passing the entire territory of a county. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill amends. County Law, article 5-a, to specify that a county may establish special district with boundaries coinciding with the territory of the county. JUSTIFICATION:

S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 9020 I N S E N A T E May 4, 2022 ___________ Introduced by Sen. GAUGHRAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to amend the county law, in relation to the territory of a county district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 250 of the county law is amended by adding a new subdivision 6-a to read as follows: 6-A. THE TERRITORY OF A COUNTY DISTRICT ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION MAY COINCIDE WITH THE TERRITORIAL BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15658-01-2
