GUNTHER, WEPRIN, BURDICK -- read once and referred to the Committee on Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to providing information regarding medicare part B coverage to certain individuals THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 71 of the correction law is amended by adding a new subdivision 7-a to read as follows: 7-A. WHENEVER THE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES INFORMATION THAT A PERSON COMMITTED TO THE DEPARTMENT IS A MEDICARE PART B RECIPIENT, THE DEPART- MENT SHALL PROVIDE TO SUCH PERSON INFORMATION REGARDING TERMINATION OF MEDICARE PART B COVERAGE FOR THE DURATION OF INCARCERATION. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD08139-01-3
