 AN ACT relating to permitting the Setauket fire district to  enter  into
   contracts  with  the  state  university of New York at Stony Brook for
   services and other consideration without public bidding
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the
 Setauket fire district may enter into agreements and/or  contracts  with
 the  state university of New York at Stony Brook. Such agreements and/or
 contracts entered into pursuant to this section may be for the  recipro-
 cal provision of services or other consideration of approximately equiv-
 alent  value  including,  but  not  limited to, routine and/or emergency
 services, moneys, equipment, materials, buildings and facilities;  or  a
 commitment  to provide future routine and/or emergency services, moneys,
 equipment, materials, buildings or facilities. Any such contract may  be
 entered  into  by  direct  negotiations  and shall not be subject to the
 provisions of section 103 of the general municipal law or section 176 of
 the town law.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
