BILL NUMBER: S4087 SPONSOR: HELMING TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize Michael Telesca to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the county of Livingston PURPOSE: To provide the county of Livingston the opportunity to offer Mr. Teles- ca a full time position with the sheriff's department upon his satisfac- tory performance on the relevant civil service examination. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill deems Mr. Telesca eligible to sit for the compet- itive civil service examination for deputy sheriff and, contingent on his score, shall be eligible to be placed on the list for appointment as a deputy sheriff in the county of Livingston.

HELMING -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to authorize Michael Telesca to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the county of Living- ston THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law, or any other provision of law to the contrary, Michael Telesca, employed by the county of Livingston, as a full-time peace officer, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service exam- ination for the position of deputy sheriff and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time deputy sheriff for the county of Livingston. § 2. Michael Telesca shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police officers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
