LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Pastor Joseph Wesson
Axtell, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Wesson Axtell of Deposit, New York, died on October
29, 2012, at the age of 54; and
WHEREAS, Born in Hancock, New York, on March 25, 1958, Joseph Wesson
Axtell graduated from Deposit High School in 1976; he continued his
education and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries
from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, as well as a Master of
Arts in Biblical Counseling from the Masters College in Santa Clarita,
California; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Wesson Axtell married Christel Ripley on July 7, 1979,
and spent 33 wonderful years together; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Joseph Wesson Axtell faithfully served for 31 1/2
years as leader of Sherman Bible Chapel; his greatest passion in life
was His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his beloved wife, Christel, Pastor Joseph
Wesson Axtell is survived by his five children, Rachel, Andrew, Josh,
Caylie, and Ben; three grandchildren, Josiah, Levi, and Alexis; one
sister and three brothers, Elizabeth, Warren, Raymond, and Ronnie; and
numerous aunt and uncles, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other
family members and friends; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Joseph Wesson Axtell leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Pastor Joseph Wesson Axtell, distinguished citizen
and devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Pastor Joseph Wesson Axtell.
