SEN. FARLEY ANNOUNCES SENATE PASSES THE CRIMINAL STREET GANG ACT

For far too long, gang violence has posed a threat to public safety and security, while also wreaking havoc on local neighborhoods, families and young New Yorkers.

That's why I was proud to recently support legislation that provides a comprehensive structure for the prosecution and prevention of criminal gang activity.

The New York State Criminal Street Gang Act would:

• increase penalties for gang-related violence;

• provide gang prevention programs in schools;

• establish a new gang prevention fund; and

• develop a strategic approach to protect New York communities from gang-related crime and violence.
