Senator Farley Announces Rexford Bridge Project Awarded Construction Contract

Hugh T. Farley

I am pleased to report that the long-awaited, and long-needed, replacement of the Rexford Bridge is finally taking place, as a construction contract has just been awarded for this project.

It is hoped that some construction could begin this fall, with a planned completion by the end of 2017.

The replacement of this bridge has long been a priority of mine, and will help address one of the major traffic bottlenecks in our region.  This river crossing is a major transportation artery in Schenectady and Saratoga Counties.  The new bridge will offer improved safety, as well as quality of life and economic development benefits for the area.

Many commuters and local residents provided helpful input to the Department of Transportation, and I am pleased that DOT took these comments into account as they developed the project.
