On Monday November 17th, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) visited the Jawonio Main Campus to announce $100,000 in critical funding he secured for vocational services at Jawonio.

For decades, Jawonio has provided support and services for individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs throughout Rockland County, Westchester County and Northern New Jersey. Parts of those services include vocational/employment services through the Personalized Recovery Oriented Service (PROS) model that focuses on a multi-faceted recovery program that includes employment.

This grant will create 10 immediate jobs in the first year of implementation. One of the employment opportunities being expanded is the Jawonio Document Imaging Solutions which has provided meticulous cost effective imaging services for 20 years.

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) said, “Jawonio has been a cornerstone in our communities providing critical supports and services to individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs for decades. Jawonio’s vocational programs give residents the opportunity to be involved in the community through meaningful employment.”

Jawonio Executive Director/CEO Jill Warner said, “We want to thank Senator Carlucci for providing this necessary funding to make sure we continue to provide high-quality vocational services in our communities. These critical services give residents the advantage they need to gain meaningful employment.”

Dr. Joe Zweig, Program Director for the PROS Program, said, “This grant will allow us to expand the benefits of the PROS program immensely. Employment is a very important part of recovery. I want to thank Senator Carlucci for helping us create new opportunities.”
