The AARP report clearly shows that our aging population has serious concerns about its financial security and quality of life in New York State. While we have made some progress on reducing the property tax burden and ensuring access to affordable health care, there is much more to be done to ensure the 50+ demographic stays in New York.

As Senate Aging Chair, I look forward to working with my colleagues in government, advocacy organizations like AARP and seniors across the state to address critical issues mentioned in the survey, including family caregiving, utility costs and expanded health services, to provide our older New Yorkers with confidence that they can stay in New York State and have an enjoyable and secure retirement.

I commend AARP for its work on this important report and for bringing these critical issues to the forefront.
