Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) announced that he has secured state funding for the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer to continue its efforts in the fight against breast cancer.

“The Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer gives women another support system to rely on while they’re battling cancer. From support groups to information to help with day to day tasks, the Coalition is a valuable resource for breast cancer patients and their families. This funding will help them continue to build on their great work which has made a difference in so many women’s lives,” said Senator Martins.

The $25,000 in state funding will help support the Coalition’s Outreach Program, which provides a variety of support services to breast cancer patients or those who are facing cancer testing. The program’s goal is to provide each woman with information and support, as well as relief from some of the day-to-day stresses and pressures of taking care of a family, including herself.

Founded in 1997, the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer is a non-profit organization whose mission is to fund innovative research, increase awareness through education, and provide support services to those with breast cancer and related diseases. Since its inception, the Coalition has raised over $3 million toward innovative breast cancer research.

“This grant will ensure that every individual who seeks our help will be provided for. The ability to lessen the burden of those who seek our services is the core of the Outreach mission. We are grateful to be recognized with such a generous gift,” said Marybeth Accurso, President of the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer.

“This generous grant enables our Outreach Program to carry on our work in supporting and serving those individuals and families that are battling breast cancer and related diseases. Every dollar will be spent alleviating some of the stresses those suffering with these diseases endure. The Coalition is honored to be the recipient of this funding and thanks Senator Martins for his work in securing it,” said Lynn Minutillo, Director and Co-Chair of Outreach, Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer.
