Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently visited Roslyn High School to congratulate the Roslyn High School Marching Band on winning the 2015 New York State Championship.

Senator Martins presented the band with copies of a legislative resolution he sponsored, which was passed by the Senate, honoring their accomplishment.  With passage of the resolution, the band’s achievement will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.

With its 2015 field show “Quidam,” based on the Cirque De Soleil show by the same name, the Bulldogs captured the top honor with a first place finish at the New York State Field Band Conference Championships this past November.  This was the band’s first-ever state championship.

“You can’t win a championship without talent, desire, and sheer hard work.  After countless hours of practice, developing their skills, and working together in pursuit of a dream, the Roslyn High School Marching Band achieved something really special; their first Championship.  Congratulations to the staff, parents, and most importantly the students who helped the Marching Bulldogs have their finest season ever,” said Senator Martins.
